SUN PRAIRIE - Dale Gessler, age 84, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in Sun Prairie due to complications with dementia. He was born on December 2, 1941, the son of Berton and Vera Gessler.
Dale graduated from Madison East High School in 1960. He served the community as a firefighter until his retirement in 1991. He was married to Priscilla “Pat” Gessler on April 15, 1961, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Madison. He was a member of St. Jerome's Catholic Church for 20 years.
Dale loved the outdoors and was passionate about golfing, camping, boating, biking and walking. He was an avid fan of stock car and NASCAR racing, always cherishing time spent with family and friends. His family was central to his life, and he took great joy in spending time with his loved ones.
Dale is survived by his wife, Pat; and his children, Steven (Barb Schewe) Gessler, Kristine (Scott) Fillner and Michael (Julie) Gessler. Granddaughter Taylor (Robert)Lanning, stepbrother Glenn (Ellen) Rosenfeldt stepsister Dawn (Scott) Bethke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Berton and Vera. Grandmother Mae Warren, sister Diane (Bill) Kurt and stepmother Phyllis Gessler.
A private family service was held at Gunderson East Funeral and Cremation Care in Madison.
