Obituary

SUN PRAIRIE - Craig Van Elsen, age 55, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026. Born on August 20, 1971, he was the son of Robert Van Elsen and Connie (Polson) Van Elsen.

His enduring passion for music was evident in his frequent attendance at concerts, where he and his wife, Jessica, enjoyed traveling to various locations to experience live performances. Craig was a man of curiosity, always eager to try new things. He liked to relax with a good cigar and a glass of bourbon and cherished family trips throughout the Midwest. Craig will be remembered for his warm smile, playful spirit, and devotion to his family.

Family was at the heart of Craig’s life. He was deeply proud of his children. He cherished the time spent with his daughter, Lauren Van Elsen, and was devoted to raising his son, Karson Van Elsen. From taking Karson to and from school, playing basketball together, and cheering him on in his sporting activities, their bond was one of many warm memories.

Craig is survived by his wife, Jessica Van Elsen; daughter, Lauren; son, Karson; mother, Connie Van Elsen; siblings, Tina (Todd) Gray and Carly (Brian) Hanson; along with two nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Van Elsen. Craig will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
