Obituary
STOUGHTON - Patrick “Pat” Lewis, 53, of Stoughton, Wis., passed away at home on October 11, 2026, with his wife and children by his side. He was born on September 4, 1973, in Des Moines, Iowa, and later moved with his family to Minnesota, where he graduated from White Bear Lake High School and Mid-State Technical College in Stevens Point before beginning his law enforcement career.
Patrick and Mackensey met in 2014, and they quickly fell in love. Patrick became a devoted bonus father to Safyra, and they shared a special bond from the start. In 2016, Patrick and Mackensey welcomed their daughter, Penelope, followed by their son, Crosby, in 2018. They later married on the beach in Grand Cayman, with all three children by their sides, celebrating the family they had built together. Their marriage was rooted in deep love, unwavering partnership, and the beautiful family they created together.
Patrick’s children were his greatest joy. He was their biggest supporter, protector, and true coach, guiding them with love, humor, and unwavering support. He cherished their family traditions, from beach vacations and sunset walks to his infamous one-liners and, of course, “Turtle Power!” These traditions and shared moments reflected the unique bond they held as a family. More than anything, Patrick took immense pride in being their dad, and the love, lessons, and memories they shared will remain with his children forever.
Patrick served the City of Stoughton as a police officer for 24 years and as a volunteer firefighter for 10 years. He also served as a patrol officer for the City of River Falls and as a boat patrol officer in Whitewater and Rome, Wis. As a firearms instructor and field training officer, he shared his knowledge with fellow officers and helped prepare them to protect their communities. Throughout his years of service, Patrick demonstrated a deep commitment to public safety and the people and communities he served.
When he wasn’t working, Patrick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting. A longtime member of the Stoughton Conservation Club, he enjoyed shooting trap, skeet, and sporting clays. He shared many of his favorite outdoor adventures with his childhood best friend, Jesse Ashton, and his brother, Robert. Their lifelong friendships were built on shared experiences, countless stories, and memories that spanned from childhood into adulthood.
Patrick will be remembered for his loyalty, strength, sharp wit, and unwavering commitment to his family and friends. He was a protector, a trusted friend, and a man who stood firmly by those he loved. His dedication to his family defined his life. His impact will endure through the lives he protected and the relationships he built.
He is survived by his wife, Mackensey Gervasi-Lewis; children, Safyra Gervasi, Penelope Lewis, and Crosby Lewis; mother, Patricia Sorlien; stepfather, Mark Sorlien; stepmother, Connie Lewis; siblings, Nancy (Dennis) DeCosta, Robert (Sara) Sorlien, Joseph Sorlien and Valerie (Tim) Rosser; nieces and nephews, Olivia DeCosta, Jack DeCosta and Connor Rosser; and in-laws, Teresa and Tadd Smejkal, Tanner Boehnen, Dale and Melissa Gervasi, Dennis and Deanna Gervasi, Halle Gervasi, Hannah Gervasi and Char and Wayne Forler. He was preceded in death by his father, Alan Lewis; and grandparents, Mason McDaniel, Lois McDaniel, Albert Lewis, Faye Lewis, Arne Sorlien, and Audrey Sorlien.
