Mark met his wife, Janet Kay (Huenink) Hocking in 2011 at the Wisconsin Department of Revenue where she also worked. They married in Madison on May 25, 2013.

He was involved in AA district 20, area 75, and in the MAICO central office in Madison. He was an avid football fan, especially the Chicago Bears. Mark was diagnosed with Parkinsonism in 2019 and took a full medical retirement the same year.

Mark is survived by his wife, Janet; sisters, Mary (Irwin) Frank, Linda (Tom) Brines, Diane Mau and Becky (Dan) Kilcoyne; brother, John (Kay) Hocking; and many nieces, nephews and their children.
