FITCHBURG - Barbara Pfeiffer, born June 13, 1948, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2026. She was a lifelong resident of Madison and Fitchburg and graduated from McFarland High School in 1967. Barbara pursued college coursework following high school and carried a lifelong love of learning.
Barbara devoted her career to the health insurance industry, working in clerical roles until her retirement in 2013. She was known for her dedication, strong work ethic, and professionalism throughout her years of service.
Barb loved the Christmas season and found great joy in creating handmade gifts for those she loved. A talented cross-stitcher and knitter, she shared her creativity and generous spirit through every project she completed. She also enjoyed shopping trips followed by a great meal and loved listening to 70s R&B music.
Above all else, Barb's greatest passion was her family and friends. She treasured every moment spent with those she loved. Her son, Jason, was her best friend, and the bond they shared was truly special. Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Barbara is survived by her son, Jason Pfeiffer; her brothers, Jim (Lois) Pfeiffer and Joel (Sandy) Pfeiffer; and her dear friend, Mary (Eddie) Green.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Louis Pfeiffer and Sylvia Mae Pfeiffer; her brother, Brian Pfeiffer; and her sister, Laurie Medchill.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice team for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided to Barb and her loved ones during this difficult time. They would also like to thank the caring physicians, nurses, and staff at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, for the wonderful care they provided.
Barbara's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be lovingly remembered always.
