Obituary
SUN PRAIRIE - Lorna C. Daugherty, age 84, of Sun Prairie, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home, on Thursday, September 24, 2026. She was born on July 10, 1942, in Dane County, Wis., the seventh child of Mel and Susan Kalscheur.
Lorna graduated from Sun Prairie High School, class of 1960. Following her graduation, with a passion for cosmetology she attended the Madison Academy of Beauty. Lorna worked for First Wisconsin National Bank for 23 years. After retiring from the bank, she worked part-time at Columbus Community Hospital.
She met the love of her life, Duane Daugherty, whom she married on May 15, 1964. They were just short of their 50th anniversary when Duane passed. Lorna always said, “It took a good sense of humor to be married that long,” which she did have and needed every now and then.
Through the years she enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their cabin in Hayward, loved listening to live country music and enjoyed watching and cheering on the Brewers and Packers. She also enjoyed snuggling in while playing on her IPAD. More than anything, spending time with her grandchildren brought her much joy.
Lorna is survived by her children, Kim (Larry) Landphier, Eric (Kellie) Daugherty and Jeffrey Daugherty; grandchildren, Tess Landphier, Andrew (Siri) Landphier, Alex Daugherty and Austin Daugherty (Cedar) and their baby to be (Lorna’s first great-grandson); siblings, Don (Tina) Kalscheur, Irene Hart, Dan Kalscheur, Rita (Gene) Fredenberg, Joan Strandlie, Marguerite Ware (Pete) and MaryAnne Simon; special friend, James Moes; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Daugherty; parents, Mel and Susan Kalscheur; sister, Judy Baldwin; in-laws, Cecil and Pearl Daugherty; brothers-in-law, Gene Hart, Jack Simon, Curt Strandlie, Larry Daugherty and Gary Reynolds; and sisters-in-law, Carol Kalscheur, Carol Daugherty and Sharron Reynolds.
Lorna was a kind, funny and loving person, and will be missed dearly.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Monday, October 12, 2026. Fellowship and luncheon to follow. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
