Obituary
OREGON / MCFARLAND / STOUGHTON - Dorothy Ann Faust (née Brigham Garvey) passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on March 7, 1933, Dorothy was the daughter of Bernadine (Drives) Garvey and Henry Brigham.
Dorothy was a graduate of Madison Central High School and very proud of the time she spent working for the State of Wisconsin in her early years. She met and married the love of her life, Leonard "Bill" Faust, in Madison in 1952, and they spent the next 67 years together enjoying a wonderful and eventful journey until Bill's passing in late 2019.
Alongside her beloved husband, she stepped into a lifelong career as a small business owner. Together, she and Bill owned and operated Bill's Supermarket on University Avenue in Shorewood Hills. They later moved to Oregon, Wis., where they opened Bill's Food Center in 1978. Dorothy immensely enjoyed working in the office at the store, where her warmth and dedication allowed her to get to know so many wonderful people and organizations in the Oregon community. She enjoyed serving the community and giving back to a community that had enriched her life in so many ways.
Dorothy and Bill spent many years traveling and visiting many amazing places. A trip to Las Vegas was enjoyed on many occasions where she especially enjoyed taking in the Big Elvis show on the strip. She treasured her time spent at home on Lake Waubesa where pontoon rides were frequent and always enjoyable. She was a huge Wisconsin Badgers fan and loved her Badger Saturdays at Camp Randall Stadium. The day would often begin at Josie's Spaghetti House and end at Avenue Bar long after the football game was over.
A hobby of hers since childhood, Dorothy almost always had a counted cross stitch project in her hands in her spare time. She was immensely talented and very proud of the beautiful pieces she completed for family and friends.
Dorothy was incredibly active in civic life and deeply proud to give back to her community. She spent many years as a 4-H leader for the Happy Wanderers and was an active member of the Oregon Town and Country Women's Club, the Oregon Chamber of Commerce, and the Daughters of the American Revolution - John Bell Chapter.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Leonard "Bill" Faust; and sisters, Jeanne Olson, Georgene Brown, Donna Mortensen, Gail Neuendorf, Marion Hansen and Bonita Brigham.
Her legacy of love and hard work lives on through her devoted children, William (Laurie) Faust, Karen (John) Healy, Linda (Steve) Stace and Michael (Jenny) Faust.
She was the proud grandmother of Jared Faust (Aquilla Gambler), Jenna Faust (Quentin Rouhoff), Erin (Jay) Haselwander, Jeff Healy (Grant Schwabenlender), Ryan (Dianna) Stace, Breanna (Jordan) Kratz, Alex (Kelsi) Faust, Lauren Faust and Jacob Faust.
Dorothy was also blessed with nine cherished great-grandchildren, Grant, Reese, and Tate Haselwander, Nevin and Shaw Stace, Cadance and Kinzie Kratz, Isla Rouhoff and Eloise Faust.
She is further survived by her sisters, Beverly Schaefer, Penny Larson, Pam Garvey, Karen Wigdahl, Janet Brown, Lori Brigham and Linda Wentworth; and many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly.
Though her journey on earth is complete, her love remains woven into the fabric of our lives. As we celebrate a beautifully lived life, we carry forward her warmth, her wisdom and her gentle spirit. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love will endure forever in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Megan, Jenn, Crystal and the rest of the Agrace HospiceCare team and Kettle Park Senior Living staff for their kind and generous care during mom's illness.
