LODI-Eddie C. Wheeler, age 74, of Lodi, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Tivoli Assisted Living.
Born August 25, 1952, in Ottawa, Illinois, Eddie was the son of Charles and Joyce (Alme) Wheeler. He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1970 and went on to earn his architecture degree from Morrison Tech. Eddie built a lifetime of meaningful work and relationships, serving for many years as an engineer with TDS before retiring.
On September 28, 1974, Eddie married his beloved Sylvia Schroeder at First Lutheran Church in Lodi. Their partnership of 52 years was a source of joy and stability for both family and friends.
An avid outdoorsman, Eddie cherished hunting, fishing and the simple pleasure of being in nature. His love of friendly competition led him to the toss line, where he served with pride as Regional Director of the Wisconsin Horseshoe Association. He carried his quiet good humor, steady hand and generous spirit into every pastime and every relationship.
Eddie is survived by his wife Sylvia; his sons, Brian and Christopher (Terra) Wheeler; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Becky (Randy) Eckert, Lois Mace and Susie (Tim) Pearson; two brothers, Mike (Cindy) Wheeler and Pat (Sandy) Wheeler; and many other relatives and friends who will miss his calm presence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Joyce Wheeler, and his sister Joy Lynn Wheeler; and brother-in-law, William Schroeder.
A celebration of Eddie's life will be announced at a later date to allow family and friends to gather and remember his steady kindness, love of the outdoors and devotion to those he loved. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to Reach Out Lodi in Eddie's memory.
