Obituary
MONONA-Jeannette “Jan” Boelsing, a very active 93 year old, unexpectedly passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at her home. She was born on Feb. 5, 1919, on the family farm in Gladstone, N.D. She married Gordon Boelsing on Feb. 27, 1946. They were married for 48 years before he passed away on July 11, 1994. Jan enjoyed cooking for her family, playing cards and visiting with friends. She was active with the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church. Jan is survived by her children, Renee (William) Frederick of Merritt Island, Fla., Rod (Patricia) Boelsing of Tomah, and Rita (Peter) Neergaard of Copenhagen, Denmark; seven grandchildren, CDR. William (Triste) Frederick, Daniel (Elizabeth) Frederick, Brenda (Sam) Raimond, Deb (Don) McCosky, Bobby (Marlene) Mepham, Nicolai (Pernille) Neergaard, and Christian (Tanja) Neergaard; 15 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Brooke, Sean, Casey, Brianna, William, Oscar, Reece, Sierra, Hunter, Bryce, Jayden, Barbara, Rebecca, and Cornelia; sisters-in-law, Arlene Dobie, Jennie Dobie, Zona Boelsing, and Zelda Klouda; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon; and eight siblings. Funeral services will be held at ST. STEPHEN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5700 Pheasant Hill Road, Monona, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, and also at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
