Duane H. "Dewey" Piper

MADISON - Duane H.  “Dewey” Piper, age 51, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at SSM Health-St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on August 2, 1973, in Madison, the son of Robert and Charleen (Clark) Piper.

Dewey graduated from Madison East High School in 1991. He worked at Comfort Fuel since they opened and prior to that, he worked for FedEx for many years.

Dewey was a larger-than-life personality. Wherever he went, he always ran into someone he knew or knew him; always greeting with a “Hey man.” He enjoyed biking, driving his truck, going to the races at Road America in Elkhart Lake and cherished time with his Turn 8 family. He also loved taking care of his lawn and the companionship of his cats.

Duane is survived by his mother, Charleen; brother; David (Mary) Piper; niece, Lacy (Noah) Halmrast; nephew, Simon Piper; aunt, Mary Brown; many cousins and special friends; and his Comfort Fuel family. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert.

A celebration of Dewey’s life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
