Obituary

MOUNT HOREB - Jakob David Anthony Foster, 14, of Mount Horeb, Wis., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Jakob was born in Dodgeville, Wis., the son of Joshua and Jeanne Foster.

Jakob was a freshman at Mount Horeb High School. He enjoyed listening to and talking about music and collecting band shirts, motorcycle rides with his papa, video games, and he was an avid reader. He also enjoyed his daily “fun facts."

Jakob gave so much joy to everyone he met. His jokes, his laugh, and his smile were contagious. Sadly, his ongoing struggle with depression proved to be too much for him to endure.

Jakob is survived by his big brother, Jaxon, and little sister, Jorja; his aunt and guardian, Jessica Foster; his girlfriend, Adalaina Karls; his grandparents, Kathy and Peter Berg, and Adriene Foster (Cheri Graff); great-grandfather, William Wittenmyer; grandfathers, Marvin Foster and Daniel Rupp; uncles, Brandon Foster (Jazmine Buckingham), Skylar Berg, and AQwaun Graff; cousins, Jaevyn Buckingham, Nayalie Buckingham-Clay, Loralei and Kilian Foster, and Riviera Berg.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Jayn Wittenmyer, LeRoy and Lottie Lettman, and Walter and Barbara Berg.

Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.

As Adelaina's mother we got to spend a lot of time with Jakob and got to see how much the two of them loved each other. They were always full of smiles and laughter when they were together, but I think my favorite memory is when Adelaina, Jakob, and I were playing a rhythm game together. Adelaina was getting frustrated because she wasn't doing very well so Jakob went on the hardest difficulty he could go on and was missing most of the notes. Adelaina was of course like, Jakob are you doing okay over there, and with a very serious face he just goes 'yeah I'm cooking' getting her to laugh. He continued to play on that difficulty for the rest of the time and let Adelaina know that he was cooking with every song, just so he could get her to laugh. May you continue to bring her smiles, rest in peace sweet boy.

I'll always remember how happy you were with Adelaina. You were incredible to be around and I was always impressed with your random facts about different rock bands. I'll always remember your JDAF dab to get Adelaina and I to laugh. Rest in Peace Mr. JDAF.

Some of my favorite memories with Jakob was when him and Adelaina would be in the kitchen together and I would walk in on Adelaina just randomly spanking his butt. She would do this a lot and it was always funny. I could tell they loved each other deeply. May Jakob rest in peace.

I was one of Jakob’s teachers when he was in elementary. As a member of his DES circle, we loved and enjoyed his jokes and smiles. He touched my life deeply. I am so heartbroken to hear of his passing. Rebecca kretschman

I remember how Jakob was such an amazing, energetic, kind hearted person. When you were struggling with your day he'd be there to talk to you or make you laugh. He never failed to make anyone smile or be happy. You'll be truly missed in all of our hearts my man.
