Obituary
STOUGHTON - Our mother, Shirley Ann (Hoiberg) Jerrick, of Stoughton, Wis., passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2022, after a brief illness. Her husband, our Dad, Dick Jerrick, passed away in 2014.
Mom was born in Madison, to Lester Hoiberg and LaVonne (Rickey) Hoiberg (later, Gerth). Mom is survived by her younger brother, Lester Hoiberg and his wife, Terry. Her younger brother, Lonnie Hoiberg, preceded her in death.
Mom graduated from Madison East High School in 1953. She met our Dad at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison at the water fountain after choir practice. He was persistent, and she married him in 1955.
Mom is survived by her three children, Kari (Carl) Coffman, Cat (Daniel) McGinnis and Rich (Laurie) Jerrick. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Rachel, Craig, Lydia, Jim, Richie, Bailey, Brody, and Bella, as well as her two great-grandchildren, Eden and Zoey.
Mom was a devoted homemaker and volunteered at our elementary school. She rode motorcycles to humor Dad, read voraciously, took us on nature walks in the school forest, and hollered at every Badgers or Packers football game she could. She worked many years at the Wisconsin Public Service Commission, retiring in 1994. After retirement, Mom and Dad built their dream home, complete with endless attractions for grandchildren-a pool, pinball, foosball, dance floor, and more. Weekends were happy, boisterous times at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Those times will always be precious to us and our children.
We would like to thank the staff at Agrace HospiceCare, who made Mom’s final days with us peaceful and comfortable. We’d also like to thank Sallye Ramsey, Mom’s dear friend, who squeezed hands with Mom in a tender goodbye that was so touching to us. Sallye was always a bright spot in Mom’s day.
Per Mom’s wishes, there will be no services. Her ashes will be laid to rest next to her mother’s in Oak Hall Cemetery in Fitchburg.
Family and friends wishing to make a memorial may donate to the Agrace Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
