Obituary
MADISON- Andrew John "Drew" Adams, age 46 of Madison, died unexpectedly on Monday, Dec 5, 2016. Drew was born in Madison, on March 23, 1970. He had a lifelong passion for the written word. Drew always had two things with him, no matter the circumstance: a book he was reading, and a moleskin journal that he was writing and sketching in – far flung ideas for commerce, reflections on the day, scripts, stories, essays. He had an insatiable interest in everything, from bicycles to string theory, a sharp wit, and a dry sense of humor. He was an amazing cook, loved sushi and black jelly beans. He enjoyed playing cribbage, backgammon and poker, to win, certainly, but mostly for the chance to visit, and share a story. Drew recently began working at Port St. Vincent in Madison. He loved his job there and the many people that it brought into his life. Drew struggled with addiction, but seemed to have finally found an answer to that struggle in service. He had started working to complete his degree in Psychology and Social Work. Always, at the forefront of his mind were his boys. Fatherhood was the best vocation he ever knew. He was proud of his sons and he loved them every minute of every day. Andrew is survived by his children, Kenneth and William Adams and their mother, Maureen Berigan; his mother, Kathleen VanDenWymelenberg (Randal Herman); two sisters, Katie Weber and Jen (Peter) Hansen; and his father, John Adams. He leaves a large extended family and many friends in grief. A Gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Tuesday Dec 13, 2016. A private family memorial will take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Madison. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Port St. Vincent, 221 South Baldwin St., Madison, WI 53703, or Serenity Home Sober Living, P.O. Box 259544, Madison, WI 53725. I'll remember Drew as a man who talked politics with babies, counterpointing their babbles with his views on policy. A man who could quote poetry at one turn and tell an off-color joke on the next. I loved his intelligence and sense of humor.
Dear friend, and love, I hope you find peace in the next world that eluded you in this. Till we meet again.
