George was such a wonderful person. My children Rachel (20) and Shane (almost 18) loved him. He would read with them at Park School and just be plain old friendly. I always enjoyed seeing him to say "hi" and how much we appreciated him, even if it was at the Piggly Wiggly or the Post Office when I saw him. Our deepest sympathy to the entire family. I think you can celebrate the life of a wonderful person. - Jean, Paul, Rachel, Shane Hilgers

George and I were members of St. Catherine LaBoure's Men's Club when I was a young adult. He was always smiling and joking and seemed to enjoy everything he was doing.

Dad taught us from a young age to appreciate the beauty of nature--camping, hiking, or just stop to comment on a beautiful sunset. Dad loved being outdoors so much that he delivered mail for 33 years and passed up chances to make more money as a post-master--which meant he would have had to work inside.

I always enjoyed having George come into the World of Variety for items he needed. He came in more often when he lived on Main St. He always was cheerful and appreciated our help finding what he needed. I remember how difficult it was for him when his son passed away while on a canoeing trip. He told me his son loved what he was doing, but losing a son was very hard. He was a wonderful man who will be missed by many. Long live his memory! You have my sympathy. Faye Danz
