John Spencer Metz

Metz, John MADISON-John Metz, age 63, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born in the U.P. of Michigan, on Aug. 24, 1951, to the late Edward and Veronica Metz. John graduated from LaFollette High School in 1969 and participated in many youth sports. He was united in marriage to Gloria Dawson on July 2, 1983. John worked at Corporate Express (Staples) for the past 13 years. He was an avid Packer fan, a hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time at the cabin and had a passion for woodworking. John was also a guitarist and took pleasure in performing in several bands over the years. John is survived by his wife, Gloria of 31 years; sisters, Karen (Eddie Lane) Metz Lane, Nancy (Bill) Johnson, and Ann (Robert) Scidmore; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of John's life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2015.
