Obituary

Wendy Lee Fassbender, age 54, of Lodi, WI passed away  on Saturday, June 27, 2015, while scuba diving at Lake Wazee, outside Black River Falls in Jackson County. She was born in Marquette, Michigan, the daughter of Paul and Janet Fassbender.  Wendy graduated with honors from Marquette University in Milwaukee and then earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.  An employee of the State of Wisconsin for the past 20 years, she worked in DER, DOC and was currently working in DOA supporting the State Email System.  In addition to her primary employment, together with Cheryl Noble, she operated  a thriving home business which has allowed them to travel the world - an unbelievable dream come true. Wendy also worked with the Volunteer Lawyers of Madison, primarily in Columbia County, donating her services to help those in need. She loved gardening, flowers, and everything purple!  Wendy loved to experience life through excitement and change.  She enjoyed fast cars, motorcycles,  Jet Skis, ATVs, zip lines, scuba diving, snow skiing, and para sailing.  If it went fast or high Wendy did it.  Anyone who ever knew Wendy, never saw her without her hands moving.  Crocheting or knitting, she made everything from tablecloths, cancer shrugs, doilies, afghans, and scarves for the kid next door.  Wendy left behind so many people who loved her, and so many friends.  No matter how busy she was, she would always take time to stop, listen and offer her help.  Survivors include; her parents, Paul & Janet Fassbender of Marquette, MI and Poynette, WI.  A son, Christopher, his close friend Joni Duran, and their son David Fassbender-Fogle of Stoughton, WI.  Three sisters; Amy Rodgers (Patrick), and their daughter Emma, of Vienna, WV,  Kelly MacVittie (Chris Leyda) of Stoughton, WI, and Kay Fassbender of Poynette, WI.  Her soul mate, Cheryl Noble, of Lodi, WI, as well as many extended family members and beloved friends. A celebration of her life will be held at Lake Wisconsin Evangelical Free Church, N1640 Ryan Road, Lodi on Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 6PM with a Time of Sharing at 7PM.

I was/am blessed beyond words to have Wendy in my life... photos of Wendy & I in Phoenix enjoying cre8ivity and wonderful conversation, Cheryl & I as I was wearing a shawl Wendy loving crafted and blessed me with in San Antonio... We've had many adventures but what is most cherished is Wendy's warm smile, comforting laugh, and her way of seeing the world in the most positive way possible - special memories of adventures and fine dining (thank you, Cheryl), deep conversations & a rich connection. My life, our lives, have been made richer because of her presence. I am blessed to have her dear friend, Cheryl, in my life and we both know Wendy's spirit and smile will continue to encourage us at just the right times. Thank you for your authenticity and committment to what was right and most important in life. Much Love and Deep Admiration. Susan

So many good memories; where does one start? Wendy lived right here in Wisconsin but I usually only ever saw her in some exotic location halfway around the world on the Stampin' Up incentive trips. In these photos we were in Fiji, and she was just about to make my dream of learning to jet-ski come true. It was one of the most fun days of my entire life. I will never, ever forget it. Last week Wendy died doing something she absolutely loved, scuba diving, and that makes me smile through the tears. I will never, ever forget YOU, either, Wendy. Life is short and sometimes ends without much warning. Wendy would be the first one to tell you to go for it with everything you've got. Our tomorrows are not guaranteed. So go for those scuba lessons. Go buy that jet-ski. Go para sailing. Get out there and GO.

I love you with all my heart! You taught me about family, love, trust, understanding.. and how to balance a check book! I cherish each day of the almost 14 years we had together - what a wild, crazy, wonderful trip it has been... know that your family and I are learning each step of this new life without you, we miss you. I am trying to put everything you taught me to good use, especially to bless your family through this hard time. You made me a better person for being in my life.

I will never forget the caring and wonderful person that Wendy was...she never said a bad word about anyone-no matter the situation. She always had a smile on her face and would go out of her way to help anyone. We know that Wendy is now smiling down from heaven and will be our guardian angel. She has probably started a new Stampin UP group up in heaven by now and is chasing turtles in the ocean. God bless you Wendy!
