Deanetta Mensink

Mensink, Deanetta “Deane” MONONA-Deanetta “Deane” Mensink, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Heritage Monona. She was born on Oct. 22, 1918, in Sioux Center, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Koopman) Vande Riet. She married Lawrence J. Mensink on Nov. 2, 1945, in Grand Rapids, Mich. Deane was a lifelong member of several congregations of the Christian Reformed Church in North America. She was a servant of the Lord to several generations of her family, to members of her churches, especially the children, and to her neighbors. Deane is survived by her sons, Bryce (Jan), Dave, Ron and Jeff; daughter, Carol Simle; grandchildren, Jennifer, Amy, Jonathan, Krista, Leslie, Joy, Laura, Leo, Nicole and Eric; eight great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Syne Bierma; and sisters-in-law, Ginny Mensink, Ardith (Jim) Larink and Bonnie (George) Meppelink. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; son-in-law, Michael Simle; granddaughter, Melissa; one brother; and six sisters. Funeral services will be held at CROSSROADS CHURCH, 3815 S. Dutch Mill Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, with Pastor Doug Van Essen presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. An additional visitation will be held at Vander Laan Funeral Home, 4917 32nd Ave., Hudsonville, Mich., from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., on Friday, April 10, 2015.
