Obituary

MADISON – Steven Thomas Stenson, age 67, died on Friday, January 2, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 30, 1947 to Stanley and Doreene Stenson. Steve served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Carpenters Local Union 314 and was a gifted craftsman. Steve started his career working with his brother installing siding and remodeling several homes. He worked for Wall-Tech and later for Findorff, until his early retirement in 2002 due to macular degeneration. Even though Steve was legally blind, he enjoyed the simple things in life like sitting on the porch drinking his coffee and visiting with friends and family, listening to the news or country music, feeding birds and taking care of his cat. He is survived by his daughters, Heather Stenson, Dawn (James) Swenson, Kristine Schlabach; son, Scott Stenson; grandchildren, James, Christian, Casey and Sabrina; and siblings, Peggy (Rich) Thomas, Jeff (Pam) Stenson and Roger (Jean) Stenson. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and Wendall; and sister, Karen Hosey. A memorial service will be held at CALVARY GOSPEL CHURCH, 5301 Commercial Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, with the Rev. Rich Thomas presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service on Saturday. A luncheon will follow. For online condolences, please go to www.gundersonfh.com. Dad Your battle is now over, no more tears flowing down your cheek, no more pain, no more suffering, now you are no longer weak. I still do not understand why this had to happen to you, but I am proud to say you are my dad, the greatest man I ever knew. You were always there for me and never once made me cry, until the day you closed your eyes and had to say goodbye. Now you are my Angel, so spread your wings out wide, please wrap them around me whenever you see me cry. Our time together was memorable and God took you way to fast, but the most precious thing to me was you being there for my first breath, and me being there for your last.

Dad, I know you will always be watching over us. Catching us if we fall, holding us when we cry and smiling as we laugh. I love you and will miss you everyday until we meet again. Love Dawn, James and James Jr.
