Obituary

WAUKESHA- Peter P. Robbins, of Waukesha, Wis., passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014. He will be dearly missed by family and friends, especially his loving wife, Olga “Kelly” and children, Peter and Lisa Robbins. Peter was born in Madison, Wis. on April 26, 1932 to Marion and Dr. John Holden Robbins. He grew up in Madison and often talked about the fun he had with his brother, John, and sister, Mary. He graduated from Madison West High School in 1950. After high school he served in the Air Force and was honored as Airman of the Year in 1953. That same year, he married, Olga Mary Keller of Madison. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a master’s degree in Business. He had an adventurous spirit and liked traveling, camping and learning new things. He also had a passion for teaching others. Early on, he volunteered as a Boy Scout leader and later he taught technical college courses in engineering. He loved being a husband and father and building toys and furniture for his two children when they were young. Throughout his career, he enjoyed the challenge of improving processes. He spent more than 20 years in manufacturing engineering and plant operations. After working in the private sector, he served as director of industry at the Milwaukee County House of Correction. After retiring, he continued to work part-time at his sisters-in-law’s farm, Alpine Dairy, in Oregon, Wis. His inquisitive nature inspired new and varied experiences throughout his life, including skiing, mountain biking, fly fishing, jewelry making, upholstery and computers. He also enjoyed gardening, wood carving, and spending time with his family and pets. Peter is survived by his wife, Olga “Kelly” Robbins of Waukesha; children, Peter (Leslie) Robbins of Los Angeles and Lisa Robbins (Joe Nadolny) of Milwaukee; brother, John (Peggy) Robbins and family of Madison; sister, Mary (Bill) Cichowski and family of Rochester Hills, Mich.; sister-in-law Dora Keller of Oregon; and nieces and nephews; Erica (Dennis) Borbe-Voss of Two Dot, Mont., Herbert Borbe Jr. of Marana, Ariz., Bettina and Richard Keller of Zurich. Dear Lisa and Robbins Family: Gina and I would like to share our heartfelt sympathies for the loss of your father and we will continue to keep you all in our thoughts and prayers. The last year of health issues was clearly a difficult one for your family, but watching you lovingly support and care for both your parents whenever possible was inspirational and surely a profound source of comfort for both of them. We did not really know your father, but knowing you as a friend for these many years now we are confident that Pete will rest in peace leaving the legacy of such a wonderful daughter. Dear Kelly, Peter Michael and Lisa, my mom and I were so saddened to hear of Pete's passing. We watched the video that was posted and tears welled up in my eyes. Memories were flooding back as I watched the video: Rockford, playing at your house, exploring the creek behind your house, playing with your German shepherd, dancing in your living room, when my parents went out of town and we stayed with you and, Kelly, you thinking we were dead because our eyes were not closed all the way when we slept, and how much you made us feel like it was our home, too. Then in Wisconsin, I remember a very bad thunderstorm blew in and it was a lightning show to never be matched. Pete always made EVERYTHING an adventure. He surely did live life like no other. I know that Pete and my dad will be raising a raucous in Heaven. Truly one of the great ones!!! Love, Karen Klinghamer Wilson.
