MIDDLETON/BLOOMINGTON,MN-Harry S. Schutte, Jr., age 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA., the son of Harry, Sr. and Sally (Snyder) Schutte. Harry served in the United States Army during WWII in the 137th Infantry 35th Division, entering the war during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. Following the war Harry went to Penn State and met Sally Hill. They were married in 1950 and had 63 wonderful years together. Harry loved music and was a talented soloist. His children treasure the memory of him singing at their weddings. One of the greatest highlights of his later years was taking the Honor Flight to the Washington DC World War II Memorial with his son. In addition to his wife Sally, Harry is survived by his children, Joanna Berg, Suzy (Duane) Webb, Sara (Jeff) Lerdahl and Harry III (Kris); his brother, Charles; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A private celebration of his life will be held by his family. He will be laid to rest with full military honors in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in June. He lived a wonderful life and was a great example of integrity and generosity to us all. He will always be remembered for his smile, his chuckles, his music, and his positive attitude. Sally and family, we send our deepest sympathy to you. I worked with Harry at U.S. Steel Corporation for 15 years and what wonderful memories I have of him. We rode to St. Paul together every day so we were able to solve all the problems of the world. Also enjoyed sitting next to Harry and Sally at Hillcrest UM Church every Sunday. Harry will never be forgotten as he was loved by all.
