Carol (Carlson) Bergen

MADISON-Carol (Carlson) Bergen, age 71, of Madison, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 16, 2017. She was born on December 29, 1945, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Owen Carlson and Jane (Powell) Baum.  Carol was a 1964 graduate of Madison East High School. She was employed with the Wisconsin Dept. of Revenue, retiring in 2007 after 37 years of service. Carol was a 21-year breast cancer survivor.  She enjoyed vacationing at Sanibel Island, Florida, where collecting shells was a favorite activity.  Carol was very artistic and enjoyed making crafts and reading poetry.  She loved animals, especially her cat, Buddy. In addition to her mother, Jane Baum; Carol is survived by her three sisters, Amy J. Johnson, Sue M. Farrey and Kathy (Ed) Asebedo; three brothers, Richard J. (Brenda) Carlson, Dick W. (Sue) Payne and Charlie F. (Sue) Payne; her significant other, Bob M. Masse; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Owen Richard Carlson; and step-mother, Genevieve M.
