Joann Germann

Germann, Joann MADISON - Joann Germann, age 71, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at her home. She was born on May 3, 1935, on the Dunphy family farm in Albany, the daughter of Frances James and Margaret May (Lawrence) Dunphy. Joann was united in marriage to Gary F. Germann on Sept. 13, 1958, in Brodhead. She graduated from Marquette University in education. Joann taught primary education for more than 30 years and received an excellence award for her dedication to teaching. She enjoyed teaching and spending time with her grandchildren. Joann was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church. She is survived by her children, Laura (Jeff) Schwarz of Sun Prairie, and Gary (Marcie) Germann II of Middleton; four grandchildren, Colton and Ciara Schwarz, Megan and Kelsey Germann; her siblings, Bernadine (Don) France, Isodore Petersen, Dolores (David) McNamara, Phyllis (John) Aeschliman and Sharron (Jule) Gehrig; mother-in-law, Zelma Germann; sister-in-law, Judy (John) Walters; brother-in-law, Roger Klett; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Joann was preceded in death by her husband, Gary in 1991; her parents; a brother, Lawrence; a sister, Mary Klett; and a brother-in-law, Nelson Petersen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Private burial at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Dennis Catholic Church.
