Geneva C. Holmes

McCabe, Geneva C. Holmes MADISON - Geneva C. Holmes McCabe, age 94, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at Karmenta Nursing Home. She was born on June 2, 1912, in Mifflen, Wisc., the daughter of Everett and Bernice Jones. Geneva was united in marriage to Ernest Holmes on Jan. 3, 1933, at United Methodist Church, Galena, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1950. On Jan. 6, 1956, she married Gilbert McCabe. He preceded her in death in 1974. She loved traveling, fishing and watching television. Geneva was a member of Sherman United Methodist Church and belonged to the Moose Club. She was a caring and loving person to all who knew her. Geneva is survived by her five daughters, Delores Lynch of Cottage Grove, Karen Fish of Ixonia, Joan (John) Conners of Gordon, Janice (Donald) Miller of Okauchee, and Mary Porter of Ixonia; two sons, Roger (Dena) Holmes of Green Bay and Jerry (Karen) Holmes of DeForest; a step-daughter, Connie McCabe of Madison; a step-son, Doug (Millie) McCabe of Monroe; 35 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Hariett Friedley of Waukesha; and a brother, Ralph (Charlene) Jones of Rockford, Ill. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, LeRoy Holmes; sons-in-law, Lyle Eastlick, Roger Miller and Paul Lynch; daughter-in-law, Marcella Holmes; and a grandson, Kevin Fish. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, with the Rev. Jakes Sei Voker presiding. Burial will be at Mifflen Cemetery, Mifflen. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m., until the time of the service on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to a charity of donors choice.
