Patricia Morayne Hill

Hill, Patricia M. MIDDLETON - Patricia Morayne Hill, age 70, passed away on Monday, Dec. 4, 2006. She was born on Dec. 5, 1935, in Fonda, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Alice (Baker) Madden. Patricia earned her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin. She did her thesis on communication in agricultural innovation, doing her research work in Mexico while living in Mexican farming villages for up to six months at a time. Patricia did consulting work at The Hague, Netherlands. She was employed with the state of Wisconsin for 16 years in various positions until her retirement in 2000. Patricia was a member of the Lions Club and had participated in eyeglass missions to Guatemala and twice to Mexico. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed writing stories about her many adventures. After retirement she loved taking her three grandsons on road trips in her RV, camping and spending time with family and friends. Patricia spoke fluent Spanish and traveled extensively throughout Mexico with her children and family. She is survived by two sons, Michael Hill of Oxford, Iowa and Mark Hill of Madison; a daughter, Laura Schlough of Madison; three grandsons, Travis, age 17, Brett, age 14 and Alex, age 11; two sisters, Linda Madden and Mary Madden, both of Sioux City, Iowa; and a brother, John Madden of Burlington, Wis. Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Madden, in 1986; her mother, Alice Madden, in 2004; and two brothers, Francis Madden, on Dec. 2, 2006 and Charles Madden, in 1967. Memorial services will be held at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006. Family and friends may call on Saturday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Patricia Hill Memorial Fund.
