Obituary

Bolton, Annabelle Miller Mills MCFARLAND - Annabelle "Ann" Miller Mills Bolton, age 85, died unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at St. Marys Hospital. She was born on May 23, 1921, the youngest of Frank and Mary (Koontz) Millers, 12 children, on a farm outside of Portage. Ann married the love of her life, James "Jim" Mills, on July 11, 1937, on his familys farm in Poynette. She worked at a variety of places in the Portage area until July of 1963, when she and Jim traveled to several states and then settled in Amarillo, Texas. Ann worked for Woolworths in Amarillo for a number of years until she retired. After Jim died in 1976, she married Carroll Bolton of Amarillo in 1979 and remained there until his death in 1987. In 1987, she returned to Wisconsin and settled in McFarland at The Cottages to be near her daughter. Traveling was a favorite pastime and she had been to every state west of the Mississippi River, except Hawaii and had also been to many east of the Mississippi. The fall trips with nephew, Leo (Betty) Smith were a big highlight. She was very proud to still be working at the time of her death as the caretaker at The Cottages. Ann loved people and was never happier than to see others happy and having her family all together or a large turnout for the monthly bingo sessions at The Cottages or the card games or potlucks. Christmas 2006 brought her whole surviving family together and she was the queen bee. An excellent seamstress among many other talents had her very much involved in the McFarland RSVP seamstress group. It pleased her to be able to make Christmas stockings (she made thousands) or quilts, balls or teddy bears for those less fortunate. Special thanks to all her Cottages friends for all the fun times and for their caring and helpfulness to her. Ann was an outstanding mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be forever in our hearts. Ann is survived by her son, Anthony "Tony" Mills and his wife, Marilyn of Madison; daughter, Mary Parks of McFarland; granddaughters, Robin Parks of Madison, Karile (John) Johnston of McFarland, and Carol Chadwick (Bob Berry) of Friendship; great-grandsons, Nicholas Wing of Florida, Chad Chadwick of Waunakee and Brad Chadwick of Waterloo; and a great-great-granddaughter, Isabella Wing. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Special thanks to the McFarland EMS and St. Marys emergency staff.
