Gunderson Funeral Home Hanson, Margaret Lois "Peg" OREGON - Margaret Lois "Peg" Hanson passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Sienna Crest Assisted Living, Oregon. Peg was born on Aug. 7, 1921, in Green County, Township of Exeter, the daughter of Leroy and Mary (Slattery) Staley. She married the love of her life, Owen "Buzz" Hanson, March 6, 1943, in the old parsonage of Holy Mother of Consolation Church. They lived on the Hanson family farm in the town of Dunn until Buzz retired. In 1995, they moved to Rolling Meadow Home in Oregon. Peg was a school teacher at the Kelly School when she married Buzz and later taught at the Oakside and Stone Schools. She taught third grade at McFarland for 15 years and then at the Red Brick in Oregon until her retirement, in 1984. Peg loved to join her husband on his many visits to area nursing homes to entertain and upon request, would dance a waltz or two with him. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Buzz; brothers, Raymond of Tucson, Ariz. and Donald of Rochester, Minn.; sister-in-law, Helen Cooper of Homestead, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bernard and Robert; and a sister, Theresa Duerst. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at 11 a.m. at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main St., Oregon, with Father Bill Connell presiding. Private burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 30, 2007, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 431 Soden Drive, Oregon.
