Dr. Harold Dickert

Dickert, Dr. Harold "Barney" MADISON - Dr. Harold "Barney" Dickert, age 86, of Madison, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2007, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center. He was born on May 14, 1920, in Madison, the son of F.X. and Elizabeth (Klein) Dickert. Barney graduated from Marquette Dental School in 1944 and received a naval commission upon graduation. He was united in marriage to Jane Fertig on June 9, 1945, in Madison. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he returned to Madison and practiced dentistry for 49 years; the last 23 years of his practice were with Dental Health Associates. He served as president of the Dane County Dental Society. Barney bowled in the civic league, and enjoyed playing hand ball, racquetball, tennis, and golfing. He loved fishing for blue gills on Hope Lake and playing Gin Rummy with the boys. Barney was a longtime member of St. Peters Catholic Church, Madison Gyro Club, and Maple Bluff Country Club. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane of Madison; his children, Christopher (Constance) of Evansville, David of Evansville, Gregory of Verona, and Robert (Cheryl) of Evansville; three grandchildren, Jessica, Tim (Jeneene) and Tia; two great-granddaughters, Maci and Dani; a brother, Thomas (Frances) of Lake Mills; and many nieces and nephews. Barney was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, P.J.; and a sister, Betty Mead. A memorial service will be held at ST. PETERS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 31, 2007. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc., or to St. Peters Catholic Church. We so appreciate the tender, loving care that Barney always enjoyed at Hospice.
