J. Maxine Villand

Villand, J. Maxine MADISON - J. Maxine Villand, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at the HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg. She was born on Dec. 24, 1917, in Rising City, Neb., to Norman and Daisy (Van Burg) DeSautelle. Maxine graduated from Rising City High School in 1935 and the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, receiving a bachelor of science degree in education. She married Larry Villand on June 8, 1941, in La Crosse. He preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1969. Maxine was a first grade teacher at Elvehjem Elementary School in Madison for 19 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and their Miriam Circle. Maxine is survived by four children, Steven (Donna) Villand of Sun Prairie, Tom (Linda) Villand of Madison, Knute (Marian) Villand of Sun Prairie and Jeanine (Greg) Knudson of Beaver Dam; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant son, Dennis Villand; and three sisters, Orma Jauch, and two in infancy. Funeral services will be held at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1904 Winnebago St., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2007, with the Rev. John Ruppenthal presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Coon Prairie Cemetery, Westby, at a later date. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Olbrich Gardens.
