Obituary
Gunderson Funeral Home Mielke, Mildred MADISON - Mildred Mielke, age 85, of Deerfield, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at St. Marys Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born on June 16, 1921, in Omaha, Neb., to Charles Herbert and Nancy (Arringdale) Chadwell. Mildred attended the University of Omaha. She married Dale M. Mielke on Feb. 12, 1944, in San Diego, Calif. The majority of Mildreds working career was spent as a legal secretary. She ultimately retired from the Personnel Department of the State Department of Public Instruction. Mildred was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was an avid golfer, bird watcher, nature lover and sports enthusiast. She is survived by the love of her life, husband, Dale; daughters, Janice (Mark) Weitzel, Terri (Jim) Curtis and Cheryl (Tom) Retzlaff; a son, Ron; grandchildren, Tim and Carilyn Weitzel, Lindsay and Jeremy Curtis, Max and Jack Retzlaff and Ashley and Bryan Mielke; a brother, Jim Chadwell; and sisters, Virginia McNown and Helen Elaine Zabel. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters. Private services will be held at OUR SAVIOURS EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1201 Droster Road, Madison, on Thursday, April 26, 2007, with the Rev. Brad Homan presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Mildred was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and human being. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
