Oline M. Baumgartner

Baumgartner, Oline M. BROOKLYN - Oline M. Baumgartner, age 103, a life-long resident of Brooklyn, died on Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Oakwood Village, where she resided for the last eight years. She was born in Jefferson Township, Green County, on Aug. 30, 1904, the daughter of William and Helena (ZumBrunnen) Rote. Oline attended Monroe High School and Green County Normal. She taught school before her marriage to Leslie J. Baumgartner on June 6, 1925, in Evansville. The couple farmed in Brooklyn Township until the death of her husband in 1965. Oline was a member of Peace United Methodist Church of rural Brooklyn. She is survived by a daughter, Margie Knott of Verona; five grandchildren, Cindy Van Haren of Plainfield, Nancy Pattishall of Chapel Hill, N.C., Sharon Reed of Hummelstown, Penn., Meg Chiodo of Lino Lakes, Minn., and Kirk Knott of Lakeville, Minn.; and 10 great-grandchildren. Oline was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie in 1965; a daughter, Mardelle Casida in 1991; a son, Milton Baumgartner in 2006; two sisters, Vera Rinehart and Violet Kortemeier; and three brothers, Harris Rote, Dwight Rote and Wilson Rote. Funeral services will be held at OAKWOOD VILLAGE WEST RESURRECTION CHAPEL, 6201 Mineral Point Road., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, with the Rev. Gwen Brandfass presiding. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation will be at the chapel from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Oakwood Village West or Peace United Methodist Church. We want to thank the Hebron Staff at Oakwood and Dr. Heifner, for their services and kindness. We will miss you Grandma.
