A. Jean Chapman

Chapman, A. Jean MONONA/ MCFARLAND - A. Jean Chapman, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, surrounded by family, at University Hospital. She was born on Aug. 28, 1927, in Asheville, N.C., to Luther and Minnie (Knox) Bruce. Jean married Glenn Chapman on Sept. 14, 1945, in Asheville. Jean and Glenn moved to Madison. Jean worked for CUNA Credit Union, while Glenn attended UW-Madison. She later worked for Shopko in Green Bay, as an advertising coordinator, until her retirement in 1987. Jean enjoyed cooking, entertaining, spending time with family and friends, crossword puzzles, playing cards and cheering on the Badgers. She is survived by her children, Bruce Chapman and Beth (Louis) Cheramy, both of McFarland; treasured grandchildren, Kaitlin M. Cheramy, Peter J. Cheramy and Victoria Jean Chapman; two sisters, Ruth Byers of Charlotte, N.C. and Mary Ducker of Charleston, S.C.; sister-in-law, Lois Chapman of St. Louis, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, in 1998; her parents; brothers-in-law, Roy Ducker and Frank Byers; and nephew, Lee Ducker. Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at noon on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association or Arthritis Foundation.
