Joseph Frank Torgeson Jr.

Torgeson, Joseph "Joe" Frank Jr. MCFARLAND - Joseph "Joe" Frank Torgeson Jr., age 79, of McFarland, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center. He was born on Jan. 27, 1928, in Madison, the son of Joseph Norman and Beulah (Neefe) Torgeson. Joe graduated from Madison East High school. He was a state and later a federal animal health lab technician, retiring in 1990. He was very active at McFarland Lutheran Church. Joe was an avid outdoors man and duck hunter. He was a builder of ice boats and sailboats. Joe liked to travel and enjoyed going to the cabin. He was a great golfer and enjoyed working in his huge garden. Joe really loved and enjoyed his pets, especially his cat, Buddy. Joe is survived by his two sons, Daniel (Carol) Torgeson of McFarland and Stephen Torgeson; special friend, Lori Souther of Madison; grandsons, William (Amy) and Jacob Torgeson, both of Madison; granddaughter, Anna (Robert Newlun) Torgeson of Lake Delton; great-grandson, Dylan Newlun of Lake Delton; sisters-in-law, Harriet and Elaine Torgeson; brother-in-law, Greg Hilden; mother-in-law, Ruth Hilden Schmidt; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Delores Arline Hilden Torgeson and Mary Ellen Palm Torgeson; and brothers, David and Richard Torgeson. A memorial service will be held at MCFARLAND LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5529 Marsh Road, on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at 4 p.m. The Rev. Jeffrey Tomberlin will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of service. Private burial will be at Lower McFarland Cemetery.
