Obituary

Jaquish, Donald R. "Jake" MONONA - Donald R. "Jake" Jaquish, age 82, of Monona, died on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, with his loving wife at his side, at Meriter Hospital in Madison. He was born on Dec. 25, 1924, in Baraboo, the son of Fred and Bonnie (Walluks) Jaquish. Don graduated from Madison East High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 until 1946 in Africa, China and Burma. Don also served in the National Guard at Truax Field during the Korean War. He married Marilyn White on Oct. 27, 1951, in Madison. Don worked nearly 40 years for Wisconsin Bell/ Ameritech in Madison, until retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Hiram Lodge No. 50 and was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Madison Scottish Rite Bodies since 1966. He was also a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. In past years, Don was an avid golfer. He was a faithful, loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Don is survived by two children, Janet Reinen of Sun Prairie, and David Jaquish of Monona; his special friend, Barb Myers; and two grandchildren, Brent Reinen and Brenda Reinen. He is further survived by his niece, Lesley (Tom) Galway; a nephew, Bruce (Debra) Elmegreen; and three great-nieces and nephews, Bridget, Lauren and Scott. Don was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Craig Reinen; and sister-in-law, Jean Elmergreen. Private graveside services will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, Brooklyn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, HospiceCare Inc., Wisconsin Telephone Pioneers or to donors choice. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
