Obituary

Kubicek, Rosemary K. (Huemmer) MONONA Rosemary K. (Huemmer) Kubicek, age 79, of Monona, passed to her new life on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at the Peter and Ellen Johnson HospiceCare Center, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Jan. 7, 1928, in Madison, to Roman and Margaret Huemmer. Rosemary attended St. Raphaels Grade School and then her fathers job took them to Rockford, Ill., for a year and a half. She graduated from Madison East High School with the "fantastic" class of 1945. Rosemary worked at UW Extension Services after graduation and then General Casualty. She married Robert Edward Kubicek on Sept. 17, 1949. Their marriage was blessed by six children, to whom she devoted much of her life. Rosemary loved traveling and saw most of the U.S. and the five provinces of Canada, with the Weekenders. Alaska, Hawaii and her trip to Europe with special friends was a highlight. Besides traveling, Rosemary loved quilting, crafts, flowers, golf and her special class luncheons. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert; six children, Tom (Christie), Sandra (William) Hatch, Charles (fiancee, Kathe Klicko), James, Ronald (Lisa) and Carol Jean; grandchildren, Kelly Peeples, Jason Hatch and Lindsay, Kyle, Colin, Cody, Heather, Tyler and Morgan Kubicek; great-grandchildren, Maddox and Ryland Peeples; step grandchildren, Madeline Oie and Rachael and Lindsey Klicko; and many nieces and nephews. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Deena and Jeffrey Hatch; a brother, Donald Huemmer; and stepmother, Virginia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, with Father John Meinholz presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a Rosary service at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 and at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HospiceCare Inc. Thank you to special friends, Charlene, Diane, Ruth and Maxine, care givers, Dr. Yamil Arbaje, Dr. Albert Musa and the Dean Oncology staff and the HospiceCare staff. She will be missed by all those that she touched.
