Barbara G. Kraiss

Kraiss, Barbara G. MADISON Barbara G. Kraiss, age 69, passed away unexpectedly at her home, on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008. She was born on Nov. 16, 1938, in New Lisbon, the daughter of Fred and Antoinette (Dvorak) Rabuck. Barbara graduated from New Lisbon High School, then attended Juneau County Normal School and graduated from UW-LaCrosse with a bachelors degree in education. Barbara was united in marriage to Roland Kraiss on Aug. 6, 1966. Barbara was focused on educating and helping others. For many years, she worked for the Madison School District, as a substitute teacher and most recently taught at Lindbergh Elementary School. Barbara was an active member of Lake Edge Lutheran Church. Through church, she belonged to the quilting group, made school bags, knitted infant hats and blankets, sang with the Adult Choir and Living Stone Choir, and served meals at the Luke House. Barbara was proud to sponsor a child from El Salvador and financially assisted schools there. But her greatest love of all, was the time spent with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Roland; sons, Skip (Laurie) Kraiss of Sun Prairie and Andrew Kraiss of Madison; daughter, Toni (Tony) Richmond of Milton; three grandchildren, Josh and Wyatt Kraiss and Eli Richmond; brothers, Fred (Vonnie) Rabuck, Bill Rabuck, and Mike (Anita) Rabuck; sisters, Bette Ann Ide and Judy Thompson; and two sisters-in-law, Mildred Richmond and Mary Lou Neitzel. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers-in-law. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at 11 a.m., at LAKE EDGE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4032 Monona Drive, Madison, with the Rev. Shirley Funk presiding. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, and also on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at church. In following Barbaras giving nature, the family asks for memorials to be given to the Lake Edge Lutheran Church.
