Louis John Slinde Jr.

Slinde, Louis John Jr. MONONA Louis John Slinde Jr., age 78, passed away on Sat. Feb. 9, 2008. He was born on Jan. 5, 1930, in Madison, the son of Louis John Sr. and Anna (Hildebrant) Slinde. Lou served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 until 1952, during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Inez Moon on June 11, 1955. Lou enjoyed golfing, fishing, looking for treasures, gambling, and spending time with his grandchildren. A fan of Tiger Woods and the Green Bay Packers. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Monona American Legion Post No. 429 for many years. Lou is survived by his wife, Inez; children, Lisa (Sean) Carriere of Caldwell, Idaho and Tonya Slinde of Madison; four granddaughters, Maria, Rebecca, Tina and Cora; sister, Junell (Leonard) Frydenlund of Pewaukee; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and five sisters. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at 12:30 p.m. at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona with Fr. John Meinholz presiding. Military rites will follow. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr. and also on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
