Rev. Donald Cottom

Cottom, Donald MADISON Donald Cottom, greatly loved husband, father and grandfather, died on Thursday evening, Feb. 7, 2008. He was born to Floyd and Jeanette Cottom on May 11, 1931. He grew up on Madisons east side playing baseball and hockey, running around town on his bike, and working for his grandfather in the bakery on Monroe Street. He knew just about everybody in town then, and he had friends wherever he went. After his enlistment in the Air Force, Don worked for the City of Madison Water Department as an accountant. At the age of 30, he went back to school to Moravian Seminary in Bethlehem, Penn., to study for the ministry. He served several churches in New Jersey and then went on to be the pastor at churches in Kellner, Westland, Mich., Chaska, Minn., and Madison. His faith and his loving, caring nature endeared him to those he served. He was a truly good man-an honest man and a loving man. Donald is survived by his wife, Zoya; children, Daniel, Kristine, George, Michael and Jonathan; his childrens families; and grandchildren, Erin, Sarah and Rafael. He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy, who will be waiting to greet his dad. Funeral services will be held at PLYMOUTH CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 2401 Atwood Ave., Madison, on Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Charles A. Wolfe presiding.
