Edward G. Stanzel Jr.

Stanzel, Edward G. Jr. MADISON - Edward G. Stanzel Jr., age 77, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008. He was born on Nov. 25, 1930, the son of Edward and Madora (Helmus) Stanzel. Ed attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for one year. He served in the U.S. Army for three years as a Private first class, serving in Germany during the Korean War. Ed worked for forty years at M.G. and E. from January of 1955 to December of 1995. He is survived by his children, Dennis Stanzel, Ray (Nikki) Stanzel, David Stanzel, Denise (Brad) Delvoye and Debra Stanzel; and grandchildren, Megan, Justin and Morgan Stanzel, Katie and John Delvoye, and Kyle Stanzel. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Stanzel. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff Vanden Heuvel presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens with military rites conducted by the Madison Area Veterans Firing Squad. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
