Obituary

Hass, The Rev. Herbert E. MADISON The Rev. Herbert E. Hass, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008. He was born on July 21, 1919, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Herman and Jeanette (Butler) Hass. Herbert served his country as a staff sergeant in the United States Army during World War II. He received a bachelors degree in religion and history from Emmanuel Missionary College, a masters degree in speech and broadcasting from Temple University and a juris doctorate from University of Notre Dame. Herbert became an ordained minister in 1948, and served as pastor for the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was also an attorney at law and had his own law firm in Michigan. Herbert was united in marriage to Carol J. (Fulmer) Kunce on Oct. 8, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Carol of Madison; a son, Dave (Diane) Hass of Sun Prairie; stepson, James (Leona) Killerlain of Madison; stepdaughter, Lillie Yingling of Madison; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Jody Lanz. Funeral services will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, with the Rev. Bill Ochs presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, with military rites conducted by the Madison Veterans Firing Squad. Visitation will be at the chapel from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
