Obituary
Van Gilder, Marilyn J. Lillian STOUGHTON Marilyn Jean Lillian Van Gilder, age 76, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at her home. She was born on Feb. 7, 1932, at home in Chicago, the daughter of Kermit and Ida (Iverson) Geiger. Marilyn was raised by an aunt and uncle, Robert and Lillian Everson. She graduated from Stoughton High School in 1950. Marilyn was united in marriage to Albert Van Gilder on Oct. 6, 1951, in Red Bank, N.J. She worked at Stoughton Hospital for 31 years. After retiring from the hospital, she worked at Stoughton High School, in the kitchen. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 56 years, Albert of Stoughton; her children, Cynthia (Frank) Myers of Madison, Cathleen (Mark) Vike of Stoughton, Daniel Van Gilder of Stoughton, and Matthew Van Gilder of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Justin, Crystal, Elizabeth, Michael, and Steven; a sister, June Farmer of Lake Como; sister-in-law, Marge Geiger of Chicago, Ill.; and five nieces and nephews, Janet, Darrel, Edward, Carolyn, and Eileen. She was preceded in death by her parents; aunt and uncle, Robert and Lillian; a son, Michael Van Gilder; granddaughter, Dannielle; a brother, Kermit; and a brother-in-law, Darrel Farmer. A celebration of Marilyns life will be held at STOUGHTON AREA SENIOR CENTER, 248 W. Main St., Stoughton, from noon until 4 p.m., on Saturday, March 1, 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CareWisconsin (formerly ElderCare) or HospiceCare, Inc.
