Gwen K. Frey

MADISON - Gwen K. Frey, age 73, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, surrounded by her loving family at the HospiceCare Center. She was born on July 4, 1934, in Stoughton, the daughter of Carl and Helen (Douglas) Oldenburg. Gwen was united in marriage to Rex Frey on Aug. 11, 1956, in Madison. She worked at Schenk Elementary School for many years, working with special needs children. Gwen enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, bowling and was an avid reader. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Gwen is survived by her husband, Rex; six children, Sue ODonovan, Kathy (Rick) Doering, Rich (Brenda) Frey, Marge Crossman, Barb Dolezalek and Rebecca (Garrett) Page; grandchildren, Paul (Tina) MacDonald Jr., Chris Ossman, Matthew Dolezalek, Kaitlin and Ross Doering, Shannon and Tricia Frey, Kelsey, Liam and Caden Page, and Katti and Kelli Crossman; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Judy (Ken) Pollock; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Paul MacDonald Sr. Private funeral services will be held. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., on Sunday, March 9, 2008. Memorials may be made to St. Marys Hospital/Renal Center or to HospiceCare Inc.
