Obituary

Gent-Goglin, Mabel V. MADISON - Mabel V. Gent-Goglin, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2008. Mabel was born in Middleton, on Sept. 22, 1915, to Louis and Mabel (Bliven) Dahl. When Mabel was six, she moved with her seven sisters and three brothers from Middleton to the east side of Madison. Mabel often told wonderful stories of growing up on the east side. Mabel married Charles Gent and they had four children. Charles passed away in 1957 and Mabel was left to raise the children with the help of her sister, Jenny. Mabel worked many years at the Lorraine Hotel on West Washington Avenue. After her retirement, she met and married Otto Goglin. After Ottos passing, she moved to the west side of Madison with her sister, Jenny, where they lived next to Mabels daughter, Carol and her husband, Louie for many years. In the fall of 2006, Mabel moved to St. Marys Care Center, where she lived until she passed away. Mabel leaves behind her sister and best friend, Jenny Dahl; her children, Richard (Edie) Dahl of Mead, Wash., Caroline (Louis) Sather, and Terry (Kathy) Gent of Madison; daughter-in-law, Anna Gent of Verona; grandchildren, Richie (Lana) Dahl and Toni Dahl of Washington, Louie Sather Jr., Cindy (Keith) Gross, Shannon (Ben) Nyden, and Terry J. Gent, all of Madison; great-grandchildren, Cory and Raianne Dahl, Gwyn and Keifer Gross, and Vaughn Nyden; and many nieces and nephews. Other special people she wanted mentioned are her favorite niece, Julie Gosda of Madison; and her loving angel, Joanne from Stoughton. Preceding Mabel in death were her husbands, Charles Gent and Otto Goglin; a son, Kenneth Gent; six sisters; and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2008. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Private burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Thank you to the staff at St. Marys Care Center for all their help and a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Marys Hospital for everything they did to make her time there peaceful.
