Obituary

Landsness, Violet M. (Amacher) MONONA Violet M. (Amacher) Landsness, age 81, of Monona, died on Thursday, May 15, 2008, after a long struggle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. She was born on May 5, 1927, in Deerfield, the daughter of Peter and Minnie (Collien) Amacher. On Nov. 8, 1943, she was united in marriage to Gerhard T. Landsness. Violet was a homemaker, she enjoyed ceramics, knitting, teaching four-year old Sunday School, wintering in Florida, watching her grand-babies, and visiting the New Glarus Hotel honoring her Swiss heritage. Violet was an avid Packer and Badger fan. She was a Girl Scout leader and a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, where she was a flower lady. Violet is survived by her daughters, Carol (Dan) Anderson of Deerfield and Cheryl (Denny) Kritsch of Davenport, Iowa; son, Gary (Rose) Landsness of LeMars, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Daniel Landsness of LeMars, Iowa, Derek Kritsch of Monona, Sarah Landsness of West Allis, Eric Anderson of Deerfield, Rachel Landsness of LeMars, Iowa, Anson Kritsch of Davenport, Iowa, and Ben Anderson of Deerfield; and sister-in-law, Lillian Amacher of Edgerton. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, Peter Amacher. Funeral services will be held at ST. STEPHENS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5700 Pheasant Hill Road, Monona, on Monday, May, 19, 2008, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Nick Utphall and the Rev. Jerry Folk presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Sunday, May 18, 2008, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m., and on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be made to Violets church, St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Monona.
