Elsie Ida Bernice Long

Long, Elsie Ida Bernice MIDDLETON Elsie Ida Bernice Long, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Meriter Hospital in Madison. She was born on March 2, 1914, in Madrid, Iowa, the daughter of Olaf and Martha (Pearson) Berglund, first generation Swedish American parents. Elsie was united in marriage to John Vernon in May 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa. Family was the upmost of importance in Elsies life and she treasured many wonderful memories with her family. Elsie is survived by two sons, Richard (Susan) Long of Prescott, and Larry (Karen) Long of Ann Arbor, Mich.; six grandchildren, Kirsten (Brian) Hanford, Kim (Bill) Marheine, Don (Chris) Dahlk, Justin Long, Jessica Long and Anna Long; seven great-grandchildren, Britta and Adam Hanford, Meredith and Nolan Dahlk, Devin, Kehlia and Isiah Long; two sons-in-law, Robert Dahlk and Wayne Johnson; three nephews, Allen Anderson, Darwin Berglund and Harold Knudsen; and a sister-in-law, Vivian Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Vernon; and twin daughters, Jane Johnson and Judy Dahlk. Funeral services will be held at ST. LUKES LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7337 Hubbard Ave., Middleton at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2008, with the Rev. Katya Ouchakof presiding. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Lukes Lutheran Church. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the families and friends at Rest Haven and the Voss Haus.
