Richard A. Warner Jr.

Warner, Richard A. Jr. MADISON Richard A. "Dick" Warner Jr., age 83, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2008, at the HospiceCare Center. He was born on July 16, 1924, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Richard A. Sr. and Freda Warner. Dick was raised in Rockford, Ill. He joined the Navy after the Pearl Harbor attack and served on the Submarine Bowfin during World War II. Dick married and had four children and then later divorced. He lived and worked in Madison before moving to South Beloit, where he owned Warner T.V. Store. Dick moved to Mississippi and worked for NASA. He married Caroline L. Stofen in 1966. After being in Hurricane Camille, they moved to the McFarland area, and worked for Ohio Medical, now Ohmeda. Dick retired in1989, and then moved to Madison. Dick attended Door Creek Church. He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion McFarland Post, Ducks Unlimited, the American Fishing Club, and was a former member of the Princeton Club. Dick is survived by his wife, Caroline; four children, Mary "Kay" Cochrane of Monona, Edward (Dottie) Warner of Mississippi, Joanne (Marc) Emerson of Mississippi, and Richard A. "Buddy" Warner III of Georgia; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Earl (Marion) Warner of Rockford, Ill.; sister-in-law, Ruth Warner of Rockford, Ill.; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward; grandparents; and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Cal Steiner presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to thank UW Health Clinics, Meriter Hospital and HospiceCare.
