Obituary

Stier, Mardelle M. (Ripp) MIDDLETON Mardelle M. (Ripp) Stier, age 86, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 14, 2008, at St. Marys Hospital, of an apparent heart attack. She was born on Aug. 26, 1921, on the family farm in Cross Plains, the daughter of Albert and Teresa (Nilles) Stoppleworth. Mardelle was united in marriage to Norbert R. Ripp on Feb. 1, 1940, in Cross Plains. She worked for Oscar Mayer for more than 33 years, retiring in 1984. Mardelle also belonged to the "Oscarettes". Norbert preceded her in death in 1986. Mardelle married Henry W. Stier on April 20, 1999, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, Sun Prairie. She was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church, Middleton and she was an "Oscarette". Mardelle enjoyed gardening and canning food for all to enjoy. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. Mardelle is survived by her husband, Henry; his children, Mike (Dianne Meyer), John (Sue), Jean (Chris) Coates, Carol (Matt Jaworski) Stier, James (Adele), Marilyn Stier and Karen Stier; seven grandchildren; seven siblings, Sr. Marilyn Stoppleworth of Honduras, Rosalind Haak, Rodney Stoppleworth, Janice Brunner, Jeanene (Gaige) Paddock, Bobbie (Jack) Hilgers and Albert (Jean) Stoppleworth; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister-in-law, and two brothers-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARDS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, June 19, 2008, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Wednesday, June 18, 2008. Friends may also call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. "Dont worry about me, Im just along for the ride."

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Mardelle's death. We are so glad to have been able to spend some time with her when we visited with Jean and Paul and our grandchildren. She was such a friendly, caring and happy person.
