Carroll A. Kain Jr.

MONONA-Carroll A. "Sug" Kain Jr., age 81, died on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008. He was born on Feb. 23, 1927, in Fond du Lac, to Carroll A. and Kathryn (Ross) Kain Sr. Carroll graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Carroll married Suzanne "Sue" Sale on July 15, 1961, in Fond du Lac. They resided in Monona since 1971. Carroll worked for Madison Gas & Electric Co. as a Superintendent of Right-of- Way for 23 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the New Voice Club of Madison. Carroll enjoyed golfing, traveling with Sue, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and his dog and companion, Keno. He was a Packers and Badgers fan. Carroll was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Sue; a son, Jeff (Connie) Kain of Ridgefield, Conn.; two daughters, Kandy (Robb) Norman and Stacey (Mike) Sweeney, all of Madison; four granddaughters, Diana Kain, Anna Kain, Chloe Norman and Gabriela Sweeney; a brother, Edward (Gerri) Kain of Milwaukee; and 11 nieces and nephews. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Patrick Kain; and sister, Mary Grace Hettwer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, with Father John Meinholz presiding. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a Scripture service at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008.
