Obituary
Grabow, Juanita Ione MADISON-Juanita Ione Grabow, age 83, of Madison passed away peacefully, on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at HospiceCare, after a long illness. She was born on August 24, 1925 in Madison, the daughter of Carl & Eda (Severson) Grabow. She was a life-long member of Bethel Lutheran Church. Juanita graduated from East High School in 1943. She then studied nursing at St. Marys, and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1946. Juanita was a dedicated nurse at Davis-Duehr for 35+ years. Upon retirement, she volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank, where she enjoyed working with her fellow volunteers. Juanita was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt. She unselfishly cared for her mother and uncles (Elmer & Severt Severson) until their deaths. Juanita would speak on the phone daily with her only sister, Sadie. Juanita enjoyed spending time with her four nieces; weekends at the farm, Sunday church services and taking them to the State Fair each year. She took pride in her gardens; vegetable, fruit and especially her beautiful flower gardens. Juanita enjoyed traveling, visiting many different places, including the lands of her ancestors - Norway & Germany. Holiday baking brought special joy, making all the traditional norweigan treats and sharing them with family. Juanita truly took pleasure in raising and caring for her kittens and cats. Her face would light up when she had a kitten on her lap. Juanita is survived by her sister, Sadie (Grabow) Powers; nieces, Rose Powers, Catherine Powers, Patricia (Guy) Powers; grand-niece, Jessica Powers; grand-nephew, Ross Powers. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Grabow; mother, Eda (Severson) Grabow; niece, Carla Powers.
