Obituary
Mickelson, Margaret I. Madison - Margaret I. Mickelson, age 89, passed away on Friday January 9, 2009. She was born on February 14, 1919, the daughter of Anton and Sara Mickelson at the family farm near Deerfield. After graduating from Deerfield High School in 1936, Margaret earned her nursing degree from Presbyterian Hospital Nursing School in 1943 and served as class president. She enlisted with the U.S. Army following graduation, and served her country during WWII in England as a 2nd lieutenant army nurse. Upon returning to Wisconsin, Margaret continued her nursing career, working primarily with Wisconsin Physicians Services. Family was her primary concern, having lived with and cared for her mother and brother Sydney until their deaths. She loved getting together with extended family, especially trips to Colorado to spend time with her only surviving brother Gordon. A celebration of Margarets life will be held at ST. PAULS LIBERTY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3494 Oak Park Road, Deerfield at Noon on Sunday, April 26, 2009, with the Reverend Daniel W. Anderson presiding. Margaret was a kind, giving human being that touched many lives. In lieu of flowers, do a random act of kindness in her honor or give to the charity of your choice.
