Obituary
Joe, Dolores S. MADISON-Dolores S. Joe, age 78, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital. She was born on April 29, 1930, in Madison at St. Marys Hospital, the daughter of William and Sara (Moore) Steele. Dolores was a waitress at the Dragon Restaurant where she met Shuck W. Joe, a chef, in 1947. They married on June 24, 1948, in Boscobel. Dolores worked in data entry for Centralized Accounting and CUNA. She was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church in McFarland, where she and Shuck joined in 1956. Dolores served on the church council and participated in many activities including, womens circle, lay reader, and hand bell choir. She donated baptismal blankets that she crocheted. Dolores enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to entertain, having family and friends over for parties on her patio. Dolores had a wonderful sense of humor and a laugh that would make everyone smile. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. Dolores was a truly remarkable woman. Dolores is survived by her children, Janet Joe of California, Daniel (Mary) Joe of Cottage Grove, Deanna (Freddie Endres) Denman of Madison, and David (Tracy) Joe of Madison; four grandchildren, Andrea and Maggie Denman, and Dawson and Lanee Joe; two brothers, Jack Steele, and William (Mary) Steele; a sister, Margret (Walter) Schulze; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shuck in 2003; her parents; and sisters, Colleen Brussen and Bonnie Howe. Funeral services will be held at HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3702 County Highway AB, McFarland, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, with the Rev. Chris Lee-Thompson presiding. Burial will be at Hope Cottage Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009. Memorials may be made to St. Marys Care Center or Hope Lutheran Church. Thank you to St. Marys Care Center for the care they gave Dolores.
